New Event Series Premieres – Competition Partner Event on Board with Thomas Cook in 2008
“The best meeting the best” – this was the motto of the “Thomas Cook Top Partner” event in Salzburg, Austria, to which Thomas Cook invited their most successful distribution partners from owner-managed travel agencies, taking place between the 11th and the 13th of January, 2008.
Not only did the 70 participants have a chance to explore the historic old town, but they were also able to prove their athletic skills. Highlights of the three-day event included a visit to the Biathlon World Cup at Ruhpolding as well as a biathlon camp with professional coach and Olympic gold medalist Fritz Fischer. Under the leadership of Thomas Cook board member Peter Fankhauser, the entire top team of tour operators and sales staff, together with the distribution partners, joined in the winter fun.
In addition to the athletic challenges of the day, the evening events also followed the overall theme of “The best meeting the best.” On the first night, “mind reader” Thorsten Havener amazed his guests with his incredible mental faculties. The second evening belonged to the Bruders and Ligmann comedy duo that brought down the house with laughter. The fun continued deep into the night with the swing music performed by the Eddie Miller Band.
“The Salzburg event was just the opener for a more intense contact with our distribution partners. In the future, we will provide further opportunities to continue our dialog,“ said Günter Geske, Director of Sales and Marketing, Germany, after the successful launch of the new event series for Thomas Cook’s top distribution partners.
With Competition Partner Event GmbH of Frankfurt, Thomas Cook AG of Oberursel, Germany, one of Europe’s leading tourism corporations, hired a specialist for the conceptualization and brand development of the long-term customer-loyalty initiative, “Top Partner.” Following the successful launch, managing director Martin Eichhorn and his Competition Partner team will organize several events per year plus an annual event trip.
